Warpark: Warpark is a genre-bending power trio based out of Philadelphia and NYC. With experimental soundscapes rooted in alternative rock and post-punk, their music has been described as "a heavy dose of far out sonic textures and punk attitude, with a unique take on guitar rock and a meticulous approach to songwriting." Warpark's distinctive sound is most appreciated in their high energy live performances. Warpark will be making their return to Ottawa on September 6th, joined by Harmony on Mars and Howlin' Circus.
Harmony on Mars: Harmony on Mars is the avant-garde psychedelic punk duo of brothers Maxwell and Jackson White. Blending a chaotic combination of influences ranging from filmmakers David Lynch and Jim Jarmusch to J.J. Cale, Sabbath and the Black Lips, their sound invites you to step outside the mundane and embrace your inner freak. They have released two EP’s and an imaginary film score and have been dubbed “The Tegan and Sara of psychedelic post-punk,” while being compared to The Doors, Lou Reed, Dead Meadow, The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age.
Howlin' Circus: A rock’n’roll heartbeat for these divisive times, Howlin’ Circus is the Middle Eastern-inspired psychedelic rock project of Canadian-Iraqi musician, Jafar Sandouk. Sandouk's "gritty, powerful, and defiant" (Indie88) sound fearlessly blurs the boundaries of genre, weaving a mesmerizing tapestry that unveils the devastating personal impact of Islamophobia and white supremacy in the post-9/11 era. Yet, the Howlin' Circus project goes beyond mere social commentary; it delves deep into the heart of humanity, exploring the world’s sharp decline in empathy. The new album, Creature, released October 27, 2023, is an ode to the roles we have to play to survive in a world designed for a privileged few. Sandouk says: “The story of a creature is often a narrative shaped by others, written to dehumanize us. This record is about defining your own story and celebrating it.”
