Toronto-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sheilagh McNab is known by her stage name SHEAL. She discovered her passion for songwriting at seventeen and honed her craft on the East Coast (Nova Scotia) before moving to Toronto. In 2016, SHEAL released her debut EP "Courage," produced by Chris Bartos and Matthew Johnston. Her sophomore EP, "Courage Again," produced by Johnston and recorded while eight-and-a-half months pregnant, came out in 2022.
"Courage Again" is a deeply reflective work exploring love, fear, and motherhood, with its opening track, "Gravity," setting the tone of gentle empathy and strength. SHEAL describes her music as a journey of finding her voice and pushing through fear, capturing a sense of authenticity and intimacy. Her latest EP, "golden hours," is set to be released fall 2024, and was produced by Gavin Gardiner and James Robertson. The EP will continue these themes with evocative piano and her signature honey-tinged vocals, embodying a raw and intimate step forward.
