We hope you'll join us for Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra's first concert of the '25-26 school year, on Sunday, December 7th at 730pm, at Southminster United Church - 15 Aylmer Avenue.
CYJO will perform big band classics from the libraries of Woody Herman, Thad Jones and Duke Ellington; contemporary masterpieces by Pat Metheny and Gordon Goodwin; and of course some Canadian flavour by Ian McDougall, Maynard Ferguson, Adam Daudrich and Ed Lister.
Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra is an educationally driven Jazz big band under the direction of trumpeter Nicholas Dyson, made up primarily of students from Ottawa area universities whose music programs lack a big band component.
Large ensemble performance experience is key to a contemporary music students’ development, and CYJO began in 2009 in order to fill that void.
