Thank you to Anne Jolicoeur for generously donating the piano tuning!
Masashi Usui is an award-winning, Japan-based saxophonist, composer, arranger, and MARCA Reeds Saxophone Gold Artist, celebrated for his luminous tone and for bringing contemporary freshness to the traditions of American jazz. He has released multiple albums recorded in both Japan and North America and has authored several educational books.
His most recent recording - an intimate duo session with pianist Phillip Strange - features a full set of original compositions. For this concert, Usui joins pianist Kate Wyatt and bassist Adrian Vedady to perform a program of works written by all three artists. Fresh from their upcoming tour of Japan, the trio will bring a deep musical rapport and a shared commitment to creative, interactive improvisation.
Join these three master musicians for an evening of nuanced, deeply communicative jazz.
