About the April 27 performers:
Waves
Waves is a Canadian street dancer whose artistic journey began as a child, when he was mesmerized by an old street dance film that ignited a fire within. He quickly fell in love with dance and enrolled in hip-hop choreography classes, dedicating himself to intense training and regular performances at recitals for three consecutive years.
A pivotal moment arrived during his final year of training when he met VLove, an authentic hip-hop street dancer who introduced him to the renowned Flava Factory studio. Under the guidance of VLove and other studio instructors, Waves honed his skills in hip-hop and popping, further fueling his passion for street dance.
Waves' expertise and charisma led him to become a hip-hop dance instructor at the University of Ottawa for three consecutive years, where he taught and inspired students. His pursuit of street dance excellence has taken him across Canada, as well as destinations like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City, where he's competed in esteemed battle competitions, including the coveted Flava of the Year in LA.
DJ Cloud
DJ Cloud has always been passionate about everything hip-hop. From graffiti and breaking to collecting CDs and vinyl records since the age of 18, he quickly developed a passion for DJing and mixing on cassette tapes. After many wedding gigs and private parties, as well as many volunteer roles in the hip-hop community, he joined Culture Shock Ottawa as a hip-hop dancer and instructor in 2011, later becoming their marketing director.
He organized Culture Shock Ottawa’s first all-styles dance battle, Sole Survivor, which became his first DJ battle gig in 2012. Hosting it for 6 years and spinning styles from hip-hop, funk, disco, and house for Moov Ottawa’s battles Th3rd Fridays and Summer Sweats, DJ Cloud became a well-known name in the dance community as one of Ottawa’s dance battle DJs.
