There is nothing like high-energy folk rhythms to chase away the winter blues. With joyful harmonies, lively spirit and unusual instruments, Toronto’s Polky will have you tapping your toes. Polky is a fiddle-driven, feminist folk band bringing the vibrant sounds of rural Polish music to North American audiences. Led by Ewelina Ferenc, 2022 Canadian Folk Music Award winner for Traditional Singer of the Year, and multi-instrumentalist Marta Solek, the group blends traditional Eastern European melodies with modern arrangements.
Featuring rare instruments like the suka from Biłgoraj—an ancient Polish lap fiddle reconstructed from 19th-century historical paintings—Polky creates music that bridges past and present. Their performances combine the raw energy of fiddles, driving folk rhythms and inventive textures, offering audiences an authentic and unforgettable sound. Full of irresistible charm, Polky’s upbeat vibe will have the whole family on their feet!
