Jacob Barber is an independent singer-songwriter and longtime fixture in the Sarnia, Ontario, music scene, known for his work with Bad Habit, Dream Seer, The Aventurines, and Melody Machine. Inspired by the folk-rock and pop sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s, his music blends jangling guitars, dreamy melodies, and psychedelic textures reminiscent of artists like The Byrds, The Zombies, The Beatles and The Kinks.
Since 2018, Barber has released four self-produced albums, with a fifth, Ordinary Moments, due out this July. He records each album independently across various home studios, working primarily on his own and incorporating a range of vintage equipment and tape machines throughout the recording process.
Jacob Barber’s recordings are brought to life onstage by members of Sarnia’s Melody Machine, featuring Daphne Hibma on organ and vocals, Taylor Pevec on bass guitar and vocals, and Matt Giresi on drums. Their performances deliver an immersive, high-energy folk-rock experience.
