A chance meeting in the schoolyard (of their kids) coupled with the post-pandemic itch to play more music led these four dynamos of musical desire and generous personality to get together and form Cattail Creek. What has developed is a laid-back but productive enterprise of writing music, playing shows, and having fun.
"Folk rock" could describe their sound, though the elements of alt-country, blues, rockabilly, and bluegrass also flow through their lively, foot-stomping music that hearkens back to campfire sing-alongs and tipsy kitchen parties.
The last couple of years have provided the opportunity for Cattail Creek to play regularly in Ottawa and the surrounding area at all kinds of venues, events, and festivals. Relishing meeting new musicians and playing with old friends in the local music scene, the band is always looking forward to the next show. And those who have seen them before know that it's always a good time when the "pink bag" comes out and the audience joins in the performance...
Cattail Creek is based out of Kanata, Ontario, and is currently busy recording a follow-up to their debut EP, Boots & Claps, that was released in October 2025.
