A Fond Farewell: A monument of raw intimacy and sensitivity, Elliott Smith leaves behind a body of work that is authentic, prolific and tragically underrated. A little-known giant of songwriting, this accomplished multi-instrumentalist and eternal perfectionist remained coherent in his artistic vision from his first albums to his final—posthumous—releases. Few mention him consistently, yet so many turn to his music when a deep communion with the intimate is called for. He is the perfect example of an artist through whom the intensity of existence and its overwhelming weight paradoxically allowed for so much beauty. Without the chance to take the usual seat and experience his presence firsthand, members of various projects from Montreal (Elliot Maginot, Cosmophone, ce qui nous traverse, marjolaine) invite you to revisit key pieces by this truly talented and genuine musician if ever there was one.
