American violinist Randall Goosby, who became ambassador for Music Masters in 2020, a role that sees him mentoring and inspiring students in schools around the United Kingdom, is guest soloist with the NAC Orchestra in Southam Hall on January 15 and 16. During his stay, he will lead a masterclass for uOttawa School of Music's violin students.
Signed exclusively to Decca Classics in 2020 at the age of 24, American violinist Randall Goosby is acclaimed for the sensitivity and intensity of his musicianship alongside his determination to make music more inclusive and accessible, as well as bringing the music of under-represented composers to light.
While in Ottawa for his NAC debut, he will perform Florence Price’s Violin Concerto No. 2, inspired by jazz, spirituals, and Chicago blues, in a concert program featuring tales of rebellion and forgiveness.
The NAC offers this masterclass to students of the uOttawa School of Music as part of an annual offering of events geared towards their preparation for a career as a professional musician.
