Ottawa-native Sarah Alena (formerly known as Sarah Scriver) is turning head and touching hearts across generations with her remarkable musicianship. Her mesmerizing performances showcase not only her expansive vocal range, but also her adeptness with the guitar and piano, all underscored by her profound songwriting prowess.
Her latest album, "One Hundred and One Nights," delves deep into her personal journey of resilience and self-discovery as she navigates the complexities of being human and finding healing amidst adversity. As a survivor of head trauma, mental health challenges, and profound hearing loss, Sarah emerges as a beacon of hope and a fierce advocate for those who have faced similar challenges.
After losing her hearing, Sarah was devastated and confused about how she could continue to create and perform music, while missing an integral part of the experience. After some experimentation, she's discovered by taking off her shoes to feel the vibrations of the music through the stage and the use of in-ears, she's grown an appreciation for music unlike the one she had before.
