Piner is an artist originally from Kingston, Ontario, and is currently based in Nova Scotia. At heart, she is an old soul. Piner grew up in a community rife with musicians who modeled the idea of putting thoughts to song and singing to anyone who cared to listen. One of Piner’s inspirations is her neighbourhood. Growing up in the environs of Skeleton Park in Kingston, Ontario, Piner experienced the wealth that comes from community, while witnessing the reality of struggle.
Piner writes songs of empathy and understanding, while stepping into the stories of others. Piner hopes that her songs will allow listeners to connect with the complexities of the greater human experience.
Piner released her acoustic debut album called ‘The Breaking Point’ in July 2018, which has received critical recognition in Dominionated, an independent Canadian Music blog. Dominionated’s Mac Cameron writes: “The Breaking Point is a display of pure confidence and vulnerability.”
Piner released her EP "Root Bound", on Friday, June 21st 2019, that features a full band sound and highlights some collaborations with Kingstonian musicians. She is currently working on her third musical project!
