Bio

Classically trained, then moving through jazz to punkyfunk, once playing sax for the Tragically Hip and now songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, John Gillies offers a selection from his 100+ original songs and a few surprises, from latin afrobeat to hobo blues, twisted tango to funky roots. His lyrics travel a kaleidoscopic adventure through love longing and loss, and his energetic stage presence take you on an improvised journey to parts known and unknown!

Accolades

Studied with Oscar Peterson, played sax with Tragically Hip, lead singer in Paris for Paris Surf Giants, current Ottawa trio is called Happy Medium.
