Jacek “Jack” Zorawski’s last gig in Ottawa was a 1999 arena concert with jump/jive/blues singer-songwriter Big Rude Jake in what is now the Canadian Tire Centre. Since arriving in Canada from Poland in the 1980s, the versatile Toronto bassist has been prominent on the traditional jazz scene in Toronto and internationally. Beyond traditional jazz, he has composed and recorded with his own trio, and has worked with legendary musicians including Bernie Senensky, Peter Appleyard and Michael Urbaniak. Jack is also a founding member Red Hot Ramble – a genre-defying ensemble that draws heavily on multiple New Orleans traditions.
Guitarist Justin Duhaime is an accomplished performer and educator in the Ottawa jazz community. Justin has emerged as a leading figure on the jazz manouche scene with his group, Gypsy Muse. He also leads an excellent jazz organ trio and is active in numerous other groups as leader and sideman.
Trombonist Peter Turner is known for his work in the traditional jazz scenes in Ottawa and Toronto – as well as for his vast repertoire of jazz standards and early-20th century tunes. Peter and Justin are looking forward to hosting Jack Zorawski for his rare Ottawa engagement.
