Love Letters to the Other Side, is the highly anticipated second album (released in April 2022) by Bogdan Gumenyuk , the gifted Ukrainian saxophonist, originally from Kyiv, but now residing in Montreal. Each of the ten compositions on the album was written with certain musicians in mind. Love Letters to the Other Side features many well-known Canadian instrumentalists who contribute their enormous talents to the realization of the album. Each of the ten tracks offers the listener, a different musical experience. From the sweet and soulful On a Little Blue Street of the Past, to the hauntingly mellifluous gem, Love Letters to the Other Side, the album provides the listener with a total musical experience.
Bogdan Gumenyuk is a musician, producer, composer, educator, and founder of the Ukrainian music label, LabelWhoAble. Bogdan was the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship, and received his master’s degree in Jazz Music Performance at The University of the Arts (Philadelphia) in 2013. He has won several international music competitions and shared the stage with Ukrainian acts including Jamala, Okean Elzy, and Mad Heads. He has also performed with notable jazz musicians from Western Europe and North America, including Curtis Fuller, Benito Gonzalez, Café, Joel Holmes, Pierre Boussaguet, Sam Harris, Ameen Saleem, Xavier Davis, and Kevin Mahogany, among others. Bogdan has recorded two albums of his own compositions: The Way I Hear (2017) and Love Letters to the Other Side, featuring Jim Doxas, Adrian Vadady, Lex French and Josh Rager (2022).
