Blues music’s twists and turns are the ideal home for such an improbable meeting of the minds as The TWO. The TWO is Thierry Jacard, all the way from Switzerland, and Yannick Nanette, all the way from the Mauritius. Their newest release, Sadela, is a dip into the Indian Ocean’s Creole creative sensibilities. Sadela, which means “those two” in Mauritian Creole, takes listeners on a journey into the island soundscapes of Sega and Maloya. A tale of hybrid, mixed identities, perpetually on the brink of becoming, in line with poet Edouard Glissant’s concept of “creolization.”
