It was through slam and rap that Kimya developed his passion for performing.
Originally from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he moved to Ottawa in 2004. Quickly attracted to several creative sectors, Kimya immersed himself in visual art, breakdance and photography, all of which he used to express his vivid creative vision. He soon discovered a love of words and writing, and his first texts were born.
Through his poetry, Kimya constructs a universe where life experiences, dreams, and the desire to build a free and peaceful world are intertwined. He was a semi-finalist at the 2017 Festival international de la chanson de Granby; that same year he launched his first EP, Or & Flamme, which won the 2019 Trille Or award in the “Discovery” category.
