Alanna Sterling is a multi-talented singer/songwriter born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Their original sui generis music combines rock’n’roll, jazz-blues and folk tones with a powerful voice, diverse instrumental ability and uniquely crafted lyrics to create a sound that is unlike anything you’ve heard before. Since starting on the piano at the mere age of two, they have taught themself to play over a dozen instruments including trumpet, clarinet, bassoon, and drums. Listen as their dynamic voice changes from a rugged, raspy modern Janis Joplin copy to that mystifying delicate siren, over an impressive range of three and a half octaves. Music is genuinely their mother tongue and language of choice, and with each song they write, Alanna tells a story. One of their goals as a songwriter is to share their experiences with others, hoping that the audience may be able to relate in some way, and overcome some of their personal struggles, just as music has been their go-to method of overcoming life's trials and tribulations.
